Delivery & Loading Policy - Oak Garden & Building Supplies
Last updated: 28 August 2026
This policy outlines how deliveries and customer pickups are managed to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Delivery Zones & Availability
- Delivery is available across Melbourne and surrounding regions.
- Delivery fees vary by distance, load type, and truck requirements.
Truck Access Requirements
Customers must ensure:
- minimum access width suitable for trucks
- safe, level ground for tipping or unloading
- no overhead hazards (trees, wires, structures)
- clear instructions for tipping location
If access is unsafe or unsuitable, the driver may refuse delivery.
Delivery Limits & Load Capacity
- Loose materials (soil, sand, gravel, mulch) have maximum load limits per truck.
- Mixed orders (loose materials + per‑item products) may require separate deliveries.
- If an order exceeds a single truck load, a second delivery fee may apply.
Loose Materials
- Once loose materials are tipped, they cannot be returned.
- Customers must ensure the tipping location is correct; drivers follow customer direction.
Customer Responsibilities
- Provide accurate delivery address and access notes.
- Ensure someone is present to receive goods unless otherwise arranged.
- Confirm the site is safe for unloading.
Failed Delivery Attempts
A delivery is considered failed if:
- access is blocked or unsafe
- no one is present (when required)
- delivery instructions are incorrect
- customer requests a change of location on arrival that is unsafe or inaccessible
Failed deliveries incur re‑delivery fees.
Customer Pickups & Loading
- Staff may refuse to load vehicles that are unsafe, overloaded, or unsuitable.
- Customers are responsible for securing loads.
- Risk transfers to the customer once goods are loaded.
Weather Conditions
- Wet weather may delay deliveries or affect certain materials.
- We may reschedule deliveries for safety reasons.
Risk Transfer
Risk passes to the customer once goods are delivered, tipped, unloaded, or loaded onto the customer’s vehicle.
